Members of PPWC Local 26 participated in the Day of Mourning in Trail on April 28.

April 28 marks the the National Day of Morning in Canada. This day notes the loss of life due to work-place illness or injury.

Each year, workers, families, employers, and communities across the province remember those who have lost their lives on the job, and we all renew our commitment to creating healthy and safe workplaces.

Last year 181 B.C. workers lost their lives as a result of their workplace, with more than half (107) of the work-related deaths the result of occupational disease — 67 were the result of exposure to asbestos, with many exposures happening decades earlier.
